Congratulations to Nozbone Skateshop (FR), Locals Skateshop (PL) and Lost Art (Northern UK)

The last 2 weeks have been pretty busy for the Vans 2014 Shop Riot Series; three more countries have seen their top store teams do battle and new winners crowned. What’s more, it seems like summer has finally settled in, raising spirits and making for some awesome events. Three more teams are now packing their bags ready for the finals in Belgium; Nozebone Skateshop from France, Locals Skateshop from Poland and UK’s Lost Art team demonstrated that the local skateboarding communities are badass fighters!

CHELLES, FRANCE, June 8th:
On Sunday June 8th, 2014 the French leg of Vans’ 2014 Shop Riot Tour once again took place at Cosanostra, one of the longest standing skateparks in France. A record breaking 20 skateshops came all across the country to attend and fight for the title of the best skateshop team of France.

Smooth organisation from Cosanostra, a great atmosphere and some impressive teams got things off to a cracking start. Click skatestore, Papatoro, Vega, Nozbone, Cosyride, Buzz skateshop, Independent skateshop & A La Bonne Planchette made it to the quarters-finals, but not before pushing the level of riding higher and higher.

Guillaume Mocquin, also riding for Papatoro, ripped the skatepark all weekend, especially on the transitions, including a huge boneless drop into the big quarter!
Every team came with their bag of tricks, we saw JJP from Starcow Skateshop land his classic heel flip crooked while Victor Pellegrin, representing Papatoro, lay down some technical tricks as well as a 360 flip fifty-fifty and a flip nose grind on the ledge.

The team from Buzz were impressing everyone too. Julien Bechet attempted a huge Blunt front on the wall, but fell, forcing his early retirement form the competition. Independent skateshop made a impression on the judges with their aerial tricks, seeing them go through to the final rounds. The semi-finals saw Buzz Skateshop from Hossegor battle against the Parisian crew of Independent Skateshop. The second semi-finals were Click Skatestore from Nantes versus Nozbone Skateshop, who won the contest in 2012.

In the end, Nozbone skateshop stepped up once again and got their hands on the cash price pot of 1000 €, plus a ticket to the European Vans Shop Riot Finals.

PIASECZNO/POLAND, June 14th:
The battle continued, with the next stop being the Piaseczno, Poland. The number of shops taking part in this 100% skate event exceeded all expectations, with seventeen turning up and signing in! the call of the Vans Shop Riot to summon the nations finest skateshop teams saw them all come out, from locals to the far reached of the country, to compete and of course, celebrate team and community spirit.

Moody weather threated to present a challenge at first and some spectators did not seem to trust the steel grey sky – but the teams could react quickly and managed to move the contest to the street section. The best trick competition, held under the Skateparki.pl sponsorship with rewards of 1000 złotys in cash (in a ‘cash for tricks’ format) turned up the heat, despite the rain.

During the ‘Best Bowl Trick’ session you could witness some gnarly tricks from Kuba Brniak, Marcin Baca Duch, Michał Zarzycki and Aleks Żerwe, but it was Mateusz Okuła of Locals Shop who topped everything with a crazy transfer from the park section to the bowl, and with that, won 1000 PLN from skateparki.pl.

Nervous Shop, last year’s winners, and this year’s favorites, didn’t disappoint. The team consisting of Piotr Elbert, Łukasz Kuza, Kacper Jakóbczyk and a flawless Dominik Jaworski proved their skills with unforgettable showdown in the street section.

The Cardiel-like tricks of Kraków’s newly founded Skate or Die Skateshop team where, in the end, defeated, and the youngest team in the comp, Local Skateshop rippers Przemek Hippler, Mateusz Okóla, Kuba Freter and Michal Zarzycki found themselves given a nice check of 3000 PLN and a ticket to the European Shop Riot Finals in Belgium.

Results Vans Shop Riot 2014, Poland:

1. LOCALS SKATESHOP
2. SKATE or DIE SKATESHOP
3. NERVOUS SHOP
