This past weekend Spain held its 5th Shop Riot contest in the city of Madrid. Leganes skatepark was the chosen battlefield for 13 shops to give it their best. 1st place would take home 1500€ and a fully paid trip to the European finals held at the “Flesh and Bones” skatepark in Aalst, Belgium. 750€ for second and 500€ for the shop finishing in third plus a 500€ cheque for the best skater of the day.
The sun was shining early Saturday morning and the shops gradually made their way to the skatepark. Shops from all over the country were present at this edition of the Shop Riot, bringing with them some top national names. After the usual blind pairing of the shops, the show got underway. We had a lot of Madrid vs Barcelona duels which certainly excited the crowd!
Our Vans shoe in disguise was there too, giving tons of freebies to the attending crowd. It was not an easy day for our judges, Davis Sanchez, Xavier Elorriaga and Ignacio Morata, but at the end of the day this is how they called it:
1st Place – Picnic Skateshop (Alicante): Franini, Rubén Macia, El niño pobre y Borja
2nd Place – Antidot Board Shop (Barcelona): Christian Sánchez, Sergi Gómez, Jordi e Ismael
3rd Place – BD Skate Shop (Zamora): Christian Estrada, Turi, Marolio y Edinson
4th Place – Customizarte Skateshop (Madrid): Rafa y Fernando Andrés, Guillermo y Nils
Best Skater: Christian Sánchez (Antidot Board Shop)
Thanks to everybody for showing up to the event, and lots of luck to Picnic Skateshop who will be representing Spain in the European finals!
